What Shodan is good at
The search engine that made internet-wide device and service discovery a normal part of security work, with enormous reach across ports, banners and connected devices.
Choose it when: Exploring exposed services and devices across the internet, and answering questions about what is reachable on a given port or running a given piece of software.
What DomainDrift adds
A domain-layer view rather than a port-and-banner one: who runs the DNS, the mail, the certificates and the hosting, watched continuously, with an alert the moment any of it changes on a domain you care about.
When to stay where you are
You are looking at services, ports and devices. That is a different layer of the stack from domain infrastructure, and a search engine built for it will answer those questions better than we will.
